How to Add this Countdown to OBS Studio
Takes less than 30 seconds. Works out of the box on OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, vMix, and XSplit.
Copy Your Overlay URL
Click the "Copy Link" button above. All your custom timer settings are safely baked into the URL parameters.
Add a Browser Source
In OBS Studio, switch to your BRB or Starting Soon scene. In the Sources panel, click + and select Browser.
Paste URL & Set Dimensions
Paste your URL into the URL field. Set Width to 1920 and Height to 1080 (or match your canvas).
Refresh on Scene Active
Check "Refresh browser when scene becomes active". Whenever you switch to the scene, your countdown starts fresh automatically!
Stream Deck & Chatbot URL Macros
Because ChronoStage OBS countdowns are stateless and 100% URL-driven, you can change the duration dynamically! Just pass ?m=3 for a 3-minute timer or ?m=10&label=LUNCH+BREAK right from a Stream Deck button or Twitch bot command.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this countdown timer really 100% free with no watermark?
Yes! There are zero watermarks, zero branding forced into the overlay, and no account or credit card required. The overlay canvas is completely transparent.
How does the transparent background work?
The overlay page uses native CSS transparency (background: transparent !important). You do not need to enter any Custom CSS in OBS Studio.
Will this slow down my stream or use CPU?
No. It uses pure lightweight client-side HTML and CSS with zero external heavyweight video libraries or analytics. OBS CEF browser engine runs it with near 0% CPU impact.
How do audio chimes work in OBS Browser Source?
The chime is synthesized directly on the fly using the browser's native Web Audio API. It does not load external MP3 files, ensuring instant playback without network buffering. Make sure "Control audio via OBS" is enabled if you want to route its audio in your mixer.
